His eloquent photography captures the essence of the Outer Banks. A vacation destination for sure, but more than that, a historical, “ribbon of fragile barrier islands”, ripe with wildlife, capricious weather, great waves, and fascinating people.

The U.S. News and World Report has named the Outer Banks of North Carolina the best family beach vacation destination in the country for 2012! Great national recognition for something the locals already knew! OBX even ranked above top tourist beaches such as Myrtle Beach, San Diego, and even Maui.
One of the most iconic historical structures on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, opens for the season on April 20th, 2012. To celebrate, the National Park Service is inviting Outer Banks locals as well as visitors to climb the lighthouse for free. On this day only, free tickets will be available on a first come/first served basis and can only be obtained in-person at the site the day of the climb.
